Missing Mitchell

I'm a historian, a reader, a wife and mother, a hockey mom.  Our family has been busy with work, school, church, practice, games.  We've made hockey trips from Ontario to Dallas, and family trips from the White House to the Grand Canyon.  We love travel, hiking, playing games, and watching movies together.  We especially love sports, including the Tennessee Volunteers and most especially, the Nashville Predators.

We're also a family who has experienced loss.  In June 2015, our 16-year-old son, Mitchell, fell suddenly and seriously ill.  He was admitted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and after several tests, was diagnosed with heart failure which led to other organ failures.  He spent four weeks at VUMC, most of those on the list for a heart transplant.  Following his fifth heart surgery in those four weeks, Mitchell passed away on June 30.
